    Salkantay Trek Machu Picchu 5 days – This trek is a great alternative to the Inca Trail because you can enjoy spectacular scenery similar to the Inca Trail but with the difference that this is not a very busy route and is practically new. In this tour we will be able to appreciate beautiful high Andean landscapes, impressive snow-capped mountains (sierra – puna above 4800 m.a.s.l.), as well as sub tropical and tropical jungle landscapes. This is a special trek because at the end you will visit one of the seven wonders of the world – Machupicchu.

    Difficulty Level: Moderate physical activity that involves a lot of time to walk the Inca Trail, archaeological sites, Amazonian forests. For example you will walk for about 6-7 hours during a day on the Inca Trail.
    Trip Styles: Designed for the outdoor adventurer. You don’t have to be an athlete to take an active trip, just someone with a healthy love for staying active and the outdoors.

     

    DAY 01: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA

    Early at 4:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to go by bus to the district of Mollepata, we will arrive at 8:00 am. we will have breakfast and we will contact the muleteer and the horses that will help us to carry all the camping equipment, during the walk we will enjoy beautiful Andean landscapes, we will arrive to Silcakancha to have lunch; we will pass by the slopes of the imposing Nevado Tucarhuay (5910 masl) until we arrive to Soraypampa, where the trekking of that day ends and we will camp.

    DAY 02: SORAYPAMAPA – CHALLWAY

    Breakfast and restart of our required trekking starting with Salkantay Pampa and follow our ascending route to find the Salkantay – Humantay Pass (4,600 masl). m) place from where we can appreciate the snowy mountains in its total splendor with possibilities of seeing snow avalanches fall, after this trek we descend towards Huayracpampa, and head towards the eyebrow of jungle specifically to Challway, this last section offers us a spectacular flora and fauna in addition to beautiful scenic views here will be located our second camp. If we have a good progress we will be rewarded with the arrival to Colpapampa where thermal baths are also located.

    DAY 03: CHALLWAY – SAWAYAKU

    It will be a spectacular day for all the experiences that we can live in our journey; after breakfast we restart our adventure trek, that today the flora and fauna will offer us much more than the previous one, in addition we will go deeper into the jungle along the course of the Santa Teresa River, find beautiful waterfalls, the formation of hot springs, oroyas to cross, take a dip and see some species of orchids; finally we will arrive to Sawayaku. Our camp will be located near the place called Sawayaku Beach.

    DAY 04: SAWAYAKU – LLACTAPATA – AGUAS CALIENTES

    After breakfast, in the continuation of our trek we will have the opportunity to appreciate some fruit species, coca plantations, coffee and others; at the same time we will make an effort to climb to Llactapata from where we will have some views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding area, and then descend towards the hydroelectric plant where we will take our train to Aguas Calientes, where this time we will rest in a lodge that has all the basic amenities.

    DAY 05: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

    Very early in the morning we will ascend to the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu which we will explore with our guide in an average of two and a half hours the whole of the Inca citadel; visiting the main square, temple of the condor, intihuatana, room of the mortars, temple of the three windows and other centers of importance. Then we will have free time for other suggested activities such as: further tour to the points of our greatest interest in Machu Picchu, climb Huayna Picchu (as an optional short trekking), or go down to the town of Aguas Calientes for a relax or enjoy the thermal baths of the place. Then take our train back to Cusco city.
