We start our hike crossing the bridge over the Urubamba River and walk a long flat road to Miskay (2800m.), and from there climb to the village of Llactapata (2650m.) to finally arrive in five hours to Wayllabamba (3000m.), where our first camp will be.

    DAY 02: WAYLLABAMBA – PACAYMAYO

We wake up around 6:00 a.m. and after breakfast, we start the most difficult part of the trek, we will climb the Llulluchapampa valley 9 km. Along this valley the scenery changes abruptly from highlands to puna. The trail will lead us to the first Warmihuañusca pass (Paso de la mujer muerta – 4225 m / 13776 ft), we will see domesticated llamas and alpacas walking on the ichu (straw), some plants and animals like the spectacled bear and deer all typical of the Inca Trail. Crossing the pass the cloudy valley of Pacaymayo (3600m), where we will camp.

    DAY 03: PACAYMAYO – WIÑAYWAYNA

This day is the longest but also the most interesting, the number of archaeological sites and the cloud forest that we will cross. We leave Pacaymayo early to the second pass, the Abra de Runkurakay (3970m). Halfway, we stop to visit the archaeological complex with the same name. This site, located at 3800m, consists of a small oval structure. After going over the pass, we descend towards Yanacocha and enter the cloud forest, to arrive at Sayacmarca (3624m.), this is a beautiful complex formed by a semicircular construction, we will pass the Inca tunnel and then arrive at the third pass, the Abra de Phuyupatamarca (3700m.). Along this road we can appreciate the magnitude of the Inca power, Phuyupatamarca (village above the clouds). We continue our descent by a stone path that leads us to Wiñaywayna (2650m.), Inca complex formed by numerous agricultural terraces, place of our camp. We will have a bar and hot showers. Farewell dinner at our campsite.

    DAY 04: WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHUPICCHU

We get up at 4.00 a.m. to leave Wiñaywayna and in an hour to reach Inti Punku (Sun Gate) and an hour of hiking along the path of flat stones on the edge of the mountainous jungle, we could see the sunrise at Inti Punku or Sun Gate (2750 m.), and in an average of 40 min. We will descend from the mentioned place to Machu Picchu Sanctuary. Continuing the descent to the control where we register and leave our backpacks. We will start a full guided tour of the Inca Sanctuary, approximately two hours, you will have free time to walk and climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (check with our agency only 400 tickets available per day).
