DAY 01: Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour

*If the day you take this tour you have a train ticket to Aguas Calientes, try to take it from 16:00 onwards, considering that the tour to the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo ends at 15:00 and you need time to get to the train station. It should be noted that in this case you will miss the visit to Chinchero and it is necessary that on the day of the tour you inform the guide that you will finish the tour in Ollantaytambo.

In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a lush agricultural region, created by the Urubamba River and an important source of food for the Incas who continue to supply the city of Cusco with a majority of their production to this day!

Our first point of visit after traveling 1 hour and a half from Cusco is the archaeological center of Pisac located at the top of the mountain. Then we will descend in our bus to the modern Andean market of Pisac located in the city of the same name.

After that, we head for lunch in the town of Urubamba considered a capital of the valley. There, we have a buffet lunch in one of its charming tourist restaurants offering traditional Andean cuisine.

The Ollantaytambo fortress is strategically located within the Sacred Valley. This archaeological center is known as the best living example of the streets, houses built on Inca stones and Inca engineering of past times. This site is much admired for its enormous stones, located on the top of the mountain, which in times past was a great bastion of defense against the conquerors.

Chinchiero The first inhabitants of the region were the Ayarmacas who, when the first Cusco governors arrived, defended their territory and offered serious resistance before being incorporated into the empire. Chinchero was the place chosen by the Inca Tupac Inca Yupanqui to establish his residence. He had beautiful palaces built for his personal use and that of his panaca.

Around 1536, in the middle of the invasion, Manco Inca began his rebellion by setting fire to Chinchero so that the Spaniards would not renew their supplies and stop chasing him in his retreat to unknown jungle regions. When Viceroy Toledo visited Cusco, he stopped in Chinchero. Here he established a reduction of Indians and ordered the construction of the present church, which was built over beautiful Inca halls. Later, during the revolution of Tupac Amaru II, the priest of Chinchero, Mateo Garcia Pamacahua, rose in favor of the King of Spain to fight the rebel.

We arrive in Cusco around 7 pm.
